START AT THE TOP LEFT AND WORK YOUR WAY RIGHT AND DOWN, SEWING BLOCKS INTO STRIPS.
STEP 114: You. now have all the blocks stitched. Lay out all the blocks in the wall hanging.
STEP 115: Lay out the first strip as shown. We will start with block K and L. Flip L right onto K. Line up the blocks so the stitching line on both blocks line up. Pin or clip together.
STEP 116: Sew the blocks together, sewing just barely inside the outer stitch line on the block. Press open seams.
STEP 117: Repeat steps 115 and 116 to attach the other K and L block and look as shown.
STEP 118: Flip L right onto K. Line up the blocks so the stitching line on both blocks line up. Pin or clip together. Press open seams and set aside.
STEP 119: Next sew together both the K blocks from the left side of the wall hanging. Flip top block down onto bottom block. Line up the blocks so the stitching line on both blocks line up. Pin or clip together. Press open seams and set aside.
STEP 120: Next sew together blocks A and B.
STEP 121: Flip block B up onto block A. Line up the blocks so the stitching line on both blocks line up. Pin or clip together and sew. Press open seams and set aside.
STEP 122: Next sew together blocks C and D.
STEP 123: Flip block C down onto block D. Line up the blocks so the stitching line on both blocks line up. Pin or clip together and sew. Press open seams and set aside.
STEP 124: We will now sew together the 2 strips previously sewn.
STEP 125: Flip the right strip left. Line up the blocks so the stitching line on both blocks line up. Pin or clip together and sew. Press open seam.
STEP 126: Next sew together G and H blocks. Line up the blocks so the stitching line on both blocks line up. Pin or clip together and sew. Press open seam.
STEP 127: Next sew together I and J blocks. Line up the blocks so the stitching line on both blocks line up. Pin or clip together and sew. Press open seam.
STEP 128: Next sew together the scissor strip and the sewing machine strip. Flip sewing machine up on to scissor. Line up the blocks so the stitching line on both blocks line up.
STEP 129: Now we will sew together blocks E and F. Line up the blocks so the stitching line on both blocks line up. Pin or clip together and sew. Press open seam.
STEP 130: Next sew together the previously sewn strip to the pin cushion strip. Line up the blocks so the stitching line on both blocks line up. Pin or clip together and sew. Press open seam.
STEP 131: Now sew together the two pieces as shown. Bodice strips and the sewing machine strips. Line up the blocks so the stitching line on both blocks line up. Pin or clip together and sew. Press open seam.
STEP 132: Next sew K strip to the wall hanging. Line up the blocks so the stitching line on both blocks line up.
STEP 133: Now attach the other K strip to the other side. Line up the blocks so the stitching line on both blocks line up. Pin or clip together and sew. Press open seam.
STEP 134: Next we will sew together the K and L strip to the bottom of the wall hanging, Line up the blocks so the stitching line on both blocks line up. Pin or clip together and sew. Press open seam.
STEP 135: Next sew together attach the K and L strip to the top of the wall hanging. Line up the blocks so the stitching line on both blocks line up. Pin or clip together and sew. Press open seam.
STEP 136: Once complete, the front of the wall hanging should look as shown.
STEP 137: Cut your backing according UP the sizing in the supply list.
STEP 138: Turn the backing over so the wrong side is up. Center the sewn together blocks on the backing. Pin in place along the edges and along each seam on the wall hanging.
STEP 139: Use the stitch in the ditch method, and sew each seam line to the backing.
STEP 140: Trim each side of the backing so it is 1.25” larger than the wall hanging. There are many methods to binding the edges and doing mitered corners. All the pictures we have used are using a method from this tutorial on Youtube. There are numerous methods and videos and you can use one of your choice.
STEP 141: Fold in each edge of the backing so it meets up with the outer edge of the front. Press with iron.
STEP 142: On each corner fold it diagonally so the fold is right at the corner of the front, as shown. Press the diagonal corner.
STEP 143: Trim away part of the corner, as shown. With right sides together, fold the corner so the ironing line matches up on both sides. Pin together.
STEP 144: Fold the ironed edges back in place and sew along the ironing line. Trim the seam as shown. Make sure you angle the corner at the fold, being careful not to cut past the sewing line.
STEP 145: Press the corner seam open. Repeat steps 142-145 for each corner. Pin or clip all the way around the wall hanging.
STEP 146: Next sew all the way around the binding. (Sew close to the edge of the binding)
STEP 147: Next we are going to make the tabs for the wall hanging. Cut squares according to the cut chart. You can add a fourth tab if you wish, just follow the steps making 4 instead of 3.
STEP 148: Press, wrong side together, 2 sides of the square. (Opposite sides.) Press no less than 1/4”.
STEP 149: Fold over fabric and press in half as shown. Sew along the raw edge of the fabric, a minimum of 1/4”. The seam depends on how wide you want the tab.
STEP 150: Turn the tab right side out and press so the seam is in the back. Repeat steps 147-150 for the second. If you want additional tabs repeat the steps again.
STEP 151: Turn the wall hanging over to the back side and evenly space out the tabs. Make sure the bottom of the tabs are at least 1/4” below the stitching line.
STEP 152: Sew the tabs to the wall hanging, sewing right on top of the previously stitched line. You can sew from the back or front depending on which side you want your bobbin thread to show.
THE WALL HANGING IS COMPLETE!!!!
