Are you new to blanket stitch applique? This FREE design includes a step-by-step tutorial for stitching a three-fabric blanket stitch applique from start to finish. A written version of the instructions is included in the download as a printable PDF. Additionally the video below walks through the process.
Each fabric has three colorstops: a single running stitch placement step, a double pass tack down step, and a blanket stitch step to finish the edges with a hand-stitched look. We recommend using a fusible product on the applique fabrics to prevent fraying. Please use the same color thread for the tack down step that you plan to use for the blanket stitch step. You can choose a thread color that matches the fabrics or a contrasting color so the blanket stitches are more pronounced.

Our designs are manually digitized and test stitched before release. For best results we recommend stitching our designs unaltered on projects hooped with stabilizer appropriate for the material being used. We cannot guarantee results when our designs have been modified in software or non-traditional hooping methods are used. We highly recommend doing a test stitch on an altered design before putting it on a valuable blank.That being said, we are often asked for a recommendation for embroidery editing software for customizing purposes:
